Tax Increment Financing (TIF)

Free market development should be just that - done by the free market. It isn't the duty of Shakopee taxpayers to foot the bill of people who rake in millions of dollars per year to prop up their pet project. 

We're already located in a desirable location for development to come naturally. Investors already see a positive ROI on investing in Shakopee, so I pledge to support free market policies on the city council. 

In addition, when a TIF district is established, the existing commercial and industrial businesses must supplement what the TIF should be paying into the fiscal disparity program. TIFs ultimately make businesses pay more in their property taxes.
